Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 August 2026
Keptly ("we", "us") is a focus and self-discipline app that helps you block distracting apps and websites during focus sessions you set for yourself. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. We've written it to be plain rather than legalistic.
Our approach in short
Keptly is built to keep your information on your device wherever possible. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We only collect what the app needs to work and to manage your subscription.
Information the app handles
Account information. When you create an account, we process your email address and a securely stored password so you can sign in and keep your subscription across devices.
Calendar data. If you turn on calendar-driven focus, the app reads events from a calendar you choose, on your device, to schedule focus blocks around them. This calendar data is used only to set up blocking and is not transmitted to us or sold.
Photos. If you use session proof (a photo to mark the start or end of a focus session), the app accesses the camera and the photos you capture for that purpose. These images are used to support the feature and are handled according to the permissions you grant.
Location. If you choose to attach location to a focus session as context, the app may access your device location for that session. Location is optional and is used only for the feature you enable.
App usage within Keptly. The app stores your focus blocks, streaks, and commitment history so the product works. This is kept on your device to run the app's features.
Subscription and payments. Payments are processed by the app store (Google Play, and Apple's App Store when available). We do not receive or store your card details. We may receive confirmation of your subscription status to unlock paid features.
Device permissions
Keptly asks for certain permissions to do its job. Blocking uses an accessibility service that you switch on yourself; the app uses it to detect and block the apps and sites you've chosen during a focus session. Calendar, camera, photos, and location permissions are only requested for the features described above, and only when you use them. You can review or withdraw any permission in your device settings at any time.
How we use information
- To provide the app's core features — blocking, planning, calendar-driven focus, streaks, and commitments.
- To create and secure your account and manage your subscription.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To keep the app working reliably and to fix problems.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us run the app (for example, the app store that processes your subscription), and only as needed to provide the service, or where we are required to by law.
Data retention
On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Account information is kept while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated information (see Contact below).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. If you are in the UK or EU, our processing is carried out in line with the UK GDPR / GDPR.
Children
Keptly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
